Low Calorie Breakfast Bar Recipe

Here is a super easy recipe for low calorie breakfast bars that can be eaten on the run. Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, but especially so when you are trying to lose weight. People that regularly eat a healthy breakfast are much more likely to maintain a healthy weight.

This recipe makes 24 bars with each bar containing roughly 85 calories.

Ingredients

  1. 2/3 cup apricot jam or preserves
  2. 2/3 cup of all purpose flour
  3. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  4. 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal, crushed (1 cup)
  5. 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
  6. 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

Directions

  1. Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a medium suze bowl, mix your all-purpose flour, cinnamon, sugar and cereal.
  3. Stir in the melted butter and stir the mixture until it is well blended.
  4. Set aside 3/4 cup of the cereal mixture.
  5. Press the rest of the cereal mixture into the bottom of a 8 inch square pan.
  6. Spread the apricot jam (or alternative flavour of your choice) over the cereal mixture that you placed in the pan.
  7. Now sprinkle the cereal mixture you set aside earlier on top.
  8. Bake the mixture in the pre-heated oven for approximately 25 minutes. You will know it is ready when the top becomes light golden brown and the jam is bubbling.
  9. Let your mixture cool for around 15 minutes before cutting it into 6 columns and 4 rows to form the bars.

Enjoy!
