Low Calorie Breakfast Bar Recipe
Here is a super easy recipe for low calorie breakfast bars that can be eaten on the run. Skipping breakfast is never a good idea, but especially so when you are trying to lose weight. People that regularly eat a healthy breakfast are much more likely to maintain a healthy weight.
This recipe makes 24 bars with each bar containing roughly 85 calories.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup apricot jam or preserves
- 2/3 cup of all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal, crushed (1 cup)
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Directions
- Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a medium suze bowl, mix your all-purpose flour, cinnamon, sugar and cereal.
- Stir in the melted butter and stir the mixture until it is well blended.
- Set aside 3/4 cup of the cereal mixture.
- Press the rest of the cereal mixture into the bottom of a 8 inch square pan.
- Spread the apricot jam (or alternative flavour of your choice) over the cereal mixture that you placed in the pan.
- Now sprinkle the cereal mixture you set aside earlier on top.
- Bake the mixture in the pre-heated oven for approximately 25 minutes. You will know it is ready when the top becomes light golden brown and the jam is bubbling.
- Let your mixture cool for around 15 minutes before cutting it into 6 columns and 4 rows to form the bars.
Enjoy!
PS. I’ll make sure I take some photos for you all of the next batch I make.
